Thanks, Robt. Appreciate the comments. Did you get my email address? I think it was Carrie who said you wanted to contact me. I’m here and waiting for that. Love to talk to you, seems we ran in the same circles in different cities, or we just ran in circles. At least I did during high school.

Not really sure how my lame story wound up in second place. Are you gals using a chad-based voting system? Did you count the absentee ballots? I really don’t understand this. Maybe it was some kind of protest vote. (Really folks, I have no position on Brexit, I’ve made myself very clear on this.) I’m certain that Phil’s, Sue’s and Anandita’s stories were all better stories. Better written, better plots, better exposition, better dialogues. Even if I COULD have voted for my story, I would not have placed it in the top six or seven.

Is this a charity thing? Pity? Is this how Trump got elected? (Doesn’t fit, unless one of you is Russian and someone else is impersonating a lawyer.) Hmmmm. I’m mystified.

I mean look, you people don’t really want me to write more stories like that–do you? Well…
Well I won’t. You hear me? I won’t. Not gonna do it. Not happening. You people are — you people are — you people are barking up the wrong tree. You HEAR ME? The wrong TREE! I will resist. You haven’t heard the last of me. This is not the end of it. I’ll get to the bottom of this, find out who’s behind it, get on top of the situation and put myself out in front of it. You’ll see. You’ll alllllll see. Pah!

I’m going on vacation. Ep, ep, ep, ep, ep, ep, ep, ep…. Don’t argue with me. Don’t try to dissuade me. (Or this suede me.) I’m going—to the mountains. I will climb, (onto my four-wheeler) to seek a high and lofty peak, where I will meditate, contemplate, and eventually acetate (yeah but it rhymes) and rejuvenate. Hopefully, with a little luck, some drugs, hot chocolate, a few stiff drinks and a marshmallow or two, I will extract a story from Kim’s subconscious pre-frontal cortex, (I get the drugs, she gets the marshmallows) and return with a story so brilliant, so profound, so achingly and emotionally disturbing, that you will all give it a resounding thumbs down. Until then, my friends, (and comrade, whoever you are.)
Fare well. (That just means I’ll see ya later.)

And yes, Roy, I realize it’s snowing and freezing up there. I KNOW that. But, women. They say, and we ‘kay. That’s it. End of story. Blizzard mountain here we come.

    Note to self: Tire chains.

Thanks, like Ken, I’m not sure how I got first place, especially with TKO so well written, but I’ll take it gladly. I like writing the nostalgia pieces and seem to write more of them that get votes, so I’m sticking with a winning theme. Already have an idea for the Christmas story and will finish it tomorrow. Gotta strike while the iron is hot. Just 19 more days till Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone who celebrates it. To those that don’t, Merry Christmas anyway.
